On the upside, Stephanie, Colin and I bought our tickets to go to Barcelona from 26 October to 29 October. The train ride is about 10 and 1/2 hours, so we arrive early Sunday evening and leave late Wednesday morning. We got an amazing deal on the tickets, only 63 euro aller-retour (round-trip). Usually it costs about 200 euro. We're hoping to couchsurf while we're there (reference: http://www.couchsurfing.com), but at worst we'll stay three nights in the Alberguinn youth hostel. It's brand new, clean, and close to everything, so we went ahead and reserved three beds for a refundable percentage of the price. Food not included, the trip won't cost any of us more than 140 euro.
I'm so excited to see Barcelona. It might have something to do with my having recently seen Woody Allen's new film, which I found really superb. I think my fascination is something more, though. I'm really enchanted by the idea of this city. Hopefully we'll have warm weather and can really make the most of our two full days. Temperatures are predicted in the 60s Fahrenheit.
Here's a picture of the fabulous Park Güell. It's the mental picture that's getting me through my stomach turmoil.
