Colin's concert was a huge success. We gathered a large group of people in the village (grouping of dorm buildings) and made our way downtown on the tram. Everyone had already had something to drink, and we were a joyous group to say the least. We arrived at Place de la Victoire and everyone scattered. No one knew where to find the bar except me, so we spent a good ten minutes collecting ourselves and headed off. I was really worried we were going to be late, but as we arrived Colin and the two proprietors, Corrine and Remi, were standing outside the bar. Colin told me later that he had been in the process of musing aloud to them where his friends could be when we barreled around the corner in a mob. The bar was instantly filled and everyone bought drinks. Colin started his set and was an instant hit. I never hesitate to give a critique when I think it's due, but he played well and sang really strongly. His cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella" in particular got everyone singing along, and the night ended up being a swinging good time.
Some people, like these three French friends of ours, Olivier, Vincent and Florient, might have had a bit too much fun. Florient still claims not to remember parts of the evening.
I did a head count near the beginning of the night and counted thirty-four, but that was before a lot of people showed up so I'm sure we had at least forty. Evidently Corinne was very pleased and proposed to Colin that he play again in December, though she didn't give him an exact date. There were only two people there who only Colin had invited, so to say the least I was really proud to have gotten so many people to show up. Next time Colin gets to set the door price and keeps 100%, or he can work for food like he did Thursday. Either way, everyone is eagerly anticipating the next show.
